Après avoir partagé la scène internationale en intégrant diverses formations de tango, Lucia Abonizio et Gilberto Pereyra, musiciens argentins installés en France, décident de créer le Duo Sud, qui propose un répertoire de tangos et milongas traditionnels, ainsi que le Tango Nuevo d’Astor Piazzolla. Ils se produisent dans de nombreux festivals et sur les scènes les plus prestigieuses, en France et à l’étranger. Ensemble, ils donnent à cette musique, qui puise sa force dans une écriture classique par sa forme et dans des sonorités jazz par sa sensibilité, toute sa vigueur et son expressivité.
LUCIA ABONIZIO
Par son itinéraire musical personnel Lucia Abonizio, pianiste d’origine italo-argentine, allie le chemin de son parcours pianistique classique à celui de la musique traditionnelle latino- américaine. Elle perfectionne ses études de piano avec Aldo Antognazzi, lui-même élève de Arturo Benedetti Michelangelli, à l’université de Rosario en Argentine et les poursuit à Paris avec Jacqueline Bourgès-Maunoury. Diplômes et Premiers Prix s’enchaînent alors : Premier Prix de Piano de la Télévision argentine, Premier Prix à l’unanimité au Conservatoire National de Gennevilliers, diplômes d’Etat en Argentine et en France pour l’enseignement du piano. En soliste ou dans le cadre de divers ensembles (Quatuor Clara Schumann, Trio Adrien Politi…), elle donne de nombreux récitals en France, ainsi qu’en Allemagne, Italie, Espagne, Argentine et Brésil, où elle a été invitée au concert d’ouverture du Festival International de l’Opéra de Rio de Janeiro.
GILBERTO PEREYRA
Il s’initie très jeune au bandonéon en s’imprégnant, grâce à son père, des traditions de la musique populaire d’Argentine. En 1982, il fonde le Sexteto Menor avec lequel il se produit dans les plus grandes salles de tango de Buenos Aires. Pendant cette période, il joue avec les musiciens argentins les plus prestigieux. En 1991, il s’installe à Paris et devient chef d’orchestre et arrangeur aux “Trottoirs de Buenos Aires”. Il est engagé comme soliste pour des concerts et des enregistrements par de nombreux ensembles et orchestres qui l’amènent à se produire dans le monde entier. Depuis 1996, il est bandonéoniste de l’ensemble Hypérion avec lequel il se produit dans de nombreux festivals. En France, il est régulièrement invité en tant que soliste avec les musiciens de l’Orchestre de Paris et fait partie de l’Ensemble Scoran Tango. Depuis 1999, il collabore avec les solistes du Royal Opera House. Il est membre de l’ensemble Tango Seis et du Quatuor Caliente.

Luego de haber compartido la escena internacional formando parte de diversas agrupaciones de tango, Lucia Abonizio y Gilberto Pereyra, músicos argentinos radicados en Francia, deciden fusionar sus estilos propios para crear el Dúo Sud. Este grupo de música instrumental propone un repertorio de tangos y milongas tradicionales incluyendo el Nuevo Tango de Astor Piazzolla. Se producen en numerosos festivales y en las escenas mas prestigiosas en Francia e internacionalmente. En sus interpretaciones, el Dúo Sud da al tango vigor y expresividad, obteniendo fuerza y solidez en la forma y escritura clásica además de color y sensibilidad a través de sonoridades inspiradas del jazz. Un estilo melódico caracterizado por un fraseo propio al tango y por un ritmo dinámico nos sumerge en una atmosfera hecha a la vez de ternura, vigor, cólera y amor.

Fiel a un itinerario musical personal, Lucia Abonizio, pianista de origen ítalo-argentino, fusiona la experiencia de su formación pianística clásica a la música tradicional latino americana. Ella perfecciona sus estudios de piano con el maestro Aldo Antognazzi, discípulo de Arturo Benedetti Michelangelli, en la universidad de Rosario en Argentina continuándolos en Paris con Jacqueline Bourgès-Maunoury. Diplomas et Premios se suceden: Primer Premio de Piano de la Televisión argentina, Primer Premio a la unanimidad en el Conservatorio Nacional de Gennevilliers, diplomas Nacionales en Argentina y en France como profesor de piano. En solista y formando parte de diversos ensambles (Quatuor Clara Schumann, Trio Adrien Politi…), realiza numerosos recitales en Francia, Alemania, Italia, España, Argentina y Brasil, donde ha sido invitada al concierto de apertura del Festival Internacional de la Opera de Rio de Janeiro.

Gilberto Pereyra se inicia al bandoneón desde muy joven impregnándose de las tradiciones de la música popular argentina gracias a su padre, bandoneonista amateur. En 1982, funda el Sexteto Menor con el cual se presenta en las salas de mayor renombre en la ciudad de Buenos Aires. Durante ese periodo, se desempeña junto a los músicos argentinos más prestigiosos y representativos del mundo del tango. En 1991, se instala en Paris donde realiza funciones en calidad de director de orquesta y arreglador del mítico « Trottoirs de Buenos Aires ».Gilberto Pereyra es contratado por numerosos ensambles y orquestas como solista para realizar conciertos y grabaciones que lo llevan a actuar en numerosos países del mundo entero. Es invitado regularmente en calidad de solista por la Orquesta de Paris realizando conciertos en el Teatro de Châtelet, sala Pleyel, Opéra Comique, Maison de la Radio. Desde 1999, colabora con los solistas de la Royal Opera House. Es miembro del ensamble Tango Seis y del Quatuor Caliente.

Having performed on the international scene with diverse tango formations, Lucia Abonizio and Gilberto Pereyra, Argentine musicians living in France, have chosen to team up and combine their personal styles by creating the « Duo Sud ». This instrumental duo offers a musical repertory of traditional tango and milongas as well as Astor Piazolla’s « Tango Nuevo ». They produce themselves in many festivals and in the world’s most renowned scenes, in France as well as abroad. Together they invite you to stroll through Buenos Aires and into the history of tango. This duo gives a renewed vigor and expressiveness to tango, drawing it’s strength from its classical form, but with the coloration and sonority of jazz. It is a musical style characterized by phrasing appropriate to tango, and by a cheerful rhythm that places you in an atmosphere comprised of tenderness, vigor, anger and love.

In her personal musical journey, Lucia Abonizio, a pianist of Italian-Argentine origin, has blended in her repertoire classical training with traditional Latin-American music and Argentine tango. She perfects her piano studies with Aldo Antognazzi, Arturo Benedetti Michelangelli’s pupil, at Rosario University in Argentina and pursues them in Paris with Jacqueline Bourgès-Maunoury. Diplomas and first prizes succeed to one another. First place on the piano for Argentinian television. Unanimous first prize at the Gennevilliers National Conservatory, official diplomas in France and Argentina for teaching piano. As a soloist or within diverse instrumental groups (Quatuor Clara Schumann, Trio Adrien Politi…), she gives numerous recitals en France, as well as Allemagne, Italy, Spain, Argentina and Brazil, where she was invited to play at the opening concert to the International Opera Festival of Rio de Janeiro’s. Her method « Piano-Tango » is published by Gérard Billaudot.
GILBERTO PEREYRA
Gilberto Pereyra immersed himself in the basics of bandonéon at a very early age. He was heavily influenced by his father, a bandonéonist amateur, who introduced Gilberto to the traditions of popular Argentine music. He studies bandoneon with Julian Gaio, Domingo Mattio and perfects his trade with Nestor Marconi. In 1982, he created the Sexteto Menor with which he performed in the biggest concert halls for tango in Buenos Aires. During this period, he shared the stage with the most prestigious Argentine musicians: Antonio Agri, Orlando Tripodi, Horacio Salgan, Nestor Marconi, Fernando Suarez Paz, Daniel Binelli, Léon Gréco, Tangox2, and Susana Rinaldi. In 1991, he moved to Paris and became an orchestra conductor (et arranger) at the “Trottoirs de Buenos Aires”.
Gilberto Pereyra has worked as a soloist for concerts and recordings by numerous groups and orchestras which performed in Europe, America, and Asia. Since 1996, He’s been playing the bandoneon for the Hyperion instrumental group (Italy) with whom he produces himself in numerous festivals. He is regularly invited to France, to perform as a soloist with the musicians of the « Orchestre de Paris » at the Théâtre du Châtelet, La salle Pleyel, and at l’Opéra comique. He’s part of the “Scoran Tango” instrumental group formed by the Quintette à cordes of musicians and soloists of the Paris Orchestra. Since 1999, he’s been working with the Royal Opera House soloists. He’s also a member of TangoSeis and Quatuor Caliente.
